My dad has tried everything for snoring and sleep apnea… CPAP machine, tennis ball in the back of the pj’s, losing weight, surgery to remove extra skin in the back of his throat. He purchased a mouth piece at http://www.nosnorezone.com/ (the noiselezz) and said this has by far worked the best for him and he doesn’t have to look like a space man with a mask and hissing machine. He’s on his second one as he wore the first one out. It adjusts the mouth so the bottom jaw is moved forward and won’t fall back into the airway.

He suggested I get one for my husband, who doesn’t wear it like he should as he tends to take it out while sleeping. I tell him he just needs to practice, but oh well.

Anyway, I think if you get a mouth piece from the dentist it costs alot of money. These are VERY reasonable at this website and my dad says it works for him.

    Good luck!

Mark if you have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, then you should take it seriously. The issue is not getting to sleep; it is that while you are asleep you are blocking your airways and you are not getting enough oxygen to your brain. As a result not only do you not get good restful sleep resulting in extreme fatigue during the day…but it will increase your blood pressure and can result in stroke. In extreme cases one can suffocate from the blocked airway.

Although some people try operations to fix the obstruction, in general they are not successful. If one is overweight, losing weight can help, as can raising one’s pillow and sleeping on one’s side and avoiding sleeping on one’s back. Also taking any sleep aid or medication can increase the apnea.

The most successful way of eliminating sleep apnea is the CPAP machine which you may be familiar with. Essentially it is a mask fitting over your nose which is attached to a small pump which forces air into your nose creating a small pressure which doesn’t allow the breathing passage to close up. Positive results from using the CPAP are almost immediate.

Sleep apnea is considered serious when you stop breathing more than 30 times per hour through the night. That means you are basically choking that many times from the blockage in your airways.

Hope this has been helpful and good luck.

Hope here you will find the answer of your question. Where you start to find out what herbs treat what ailment? There is a site being built which provides a starting point for finding and comparing treatments. http://www.rvita.com/remedy/ayurveda.html Does this seem useful? When going the alternative medicine route one is often left to research and experiment to find the right products and resources. Here is a new site that is beginning to gather all the resources in one place. You can research conditions for various therapeutic modes, including Ayurvedic medicine, and get information about the effectiveness of therapies and remedies. The site is also a launching point for researching integrated alternative medicine therapies on the web. Go to http://www.rvita.com.
