I work nights, and there's two little kids in my house, so you can imagine how often I get woken up. The foam plugs work really well, and I can't hear anything once they're in. They don't last more than a week per pair though. The foam stops bouncing back after a couple of days (you squeeze and roll them up, then push them into your ear. The foam expands and fills up the canal to block sound), and you'll need to whip out a new pair. The new ones can get slightly uncomfortable for the first use, but after that they are ok.
