my dad lost 60 lbs and dosent need his cpap machine anymore. i hope it will work that way for me.mybipap is set at30/25 and im constantly waking up cause of the mask leaking even though ive got the thing straped to my head so tight that it hurts my head. bipap machines were designed by the Taliban.
This is a great tool for me. I’m about to have gastric bypass surgery and I just had a sleep study to check for sleep apnea. I apparently have moderate sleep apnea and I have to go back and try the CPAP. Now I know it’s gonna be quiet and it’s gonna work! I do have a question…..does the airway pressure hurt at all? How does it feel?
I agree with benparker77. I too thought that sleep anpnea was for older adults and those who were heavier than most. I am 5’11″ and weigh 176 lbs, 32 years old. I went back for a 2nd sleep study last night and found out the pressure was off on my machine. I admit, that I was afraid of using this device because of my partner being “turned off” by it. Have your spouse and or partner go with you to the sleep specialist and get questions answered.
Anyone who says sleep apnea is only a sleeping disorder for fat people is wrong… im 18 years old 6 foot 2 and weight 145 pounds and i breathe on a machine….
I just got my CPAP today after doing the sleep study two nights ago. I am now 35 pounds over weight but even before I was over weight my wife told me that I had the symptoms so the weight has nothing to do with it. I hope that I can loose the weight though. It seems like it is really hard to do loose once you put it on. And I have a hobby farm and hay (Square bales) almost all summer and take care of animals all year. I hope it works as well as told it does. Glad insurance covered the cost:-)
@jamiesea its actualy alomost impossible to lose weight with sleep apnea. youre brain starves when you dont breath so your body conserve all your intake. its like being a bear in hybernation.ive lost 100 lbs since i got my mask and i excersice daily now
@krsavage mine was 1300, its he newest machine out and its top rated. he mask was 250. i have a humidifier and mine has a memory card for my doctor to see if its working
No you idiot, he’s within the range of normal. And I didn’t have a TV in the bedroom, that’s the kids watching TV in the other room I guess. Obviously you have no life if you’re spending your time looking up CPAP to give people shit.
If he’s lost 60 lbs since being 30 lbs overweight when you made the video, does that mean he’s 30 lbs underweight now?
Your TV is never off, but I’m the moron?
He lost 60 pounds since this video was made two years ago and is no longer over weight and still needs the machine, A lot of morons like the guy above this comment (George Crosley) get on YouTube search out videos like this one and make idiotic judgements that the people who are on CPAP are all obese slobs who get the machine instead of losing weight.
You are a complete moron. He is only about 30 pounds over weight in this video and it was over two years ago. He DID get fit and lost 60 pounds since this video was made. AND He STILL needs the CPAP because the problem with sleep apnea isn’t always about being obese.
Interesting that in this household they don’t even turn off the TV while they’re making their own video. It’s no surprise people get so obese that they’d rather acquire an onerous device than to get fit.
I use the exact same mask – Comfort Classic II! I have used CPAP for ten years and it ha absolutely changed my life! Hope the same is true for your husband.
He may or may not have obstructive sleep apnea. If he has central only no amount of exercise will stop it. I had both and managed to get rid of my obstructive via weight loss. However I am still on the machine to cope with my centrals.
Obesity causes sleep apnea 95% of the time. America is so obsessed with food. We are rewarded with food and celebrate with food. We need to get a grip. Food is to nurish our bodies not be enjoyed so much that it kills us slowly.

im skinny as a rail and they are testing me for apnea next month. you are right about weight.
question, has your husband had any side effects from using the machine?
hey what happened to him?

I don’t know, our insurance pays it.

How’s your weight? Seems like weight loss would make a difference. Have you noticed anything like that?

how much are they to buy the cpap?
how the hell is that mask so quiet? My hubby tried one and it was the most obnoxiously loud thing on the planet
