Husband at risk for sleep apnea?

My 27 year old husband went for a physical today and the doctor told him he is at risk for sleep apnea because of the structure of his throat and neck. What are some things we can do to help this situation and lessen the chances of something serious happening?
He is only a few pounds overweight, and yes, he snores a lot.

you might want to consider having him get a sleep study done to make sure that he doesn’t already have sleep apnea. pretty much they’ll put him in a bed in a clinic for a night hooked up to monitors to make sure he breathes. or, if he falls asleep before you, just listen and see if he has a steady breathing pattern.
my dads doctor told him that he was also “at risk”, but once he did the sleep study they discovered he would stop breathing for about 1 minute 45 seconds at a time during the night. if you go past 2 minutes, you usually don’t wake up.
if he does have it, they will give him a device to give him oxygen in the night while he is sleeping. if he is heavy-set, losing a few pounds could help. if he snores alot when he sleeps he is more at risk.
good luck!
avoid sleeping pills, or any type of depressant
eat sensibly and exercise
sleep on your side
quit smoking
raise your head 4-6 inches by moving bed or special pillow
treat breathing problems when they arise.
I saw a few minutes ago a web site at a UK clinic/private hospital that offers laser surgery . They say it is easily affordable(?) , carried out under local anesthetic,is painless and you can go straight back to work or whatever you were doing . Might be worth a looking at?
