You ‘had’ sleep apnea? How would you know it’s stopped? You have it when you sleep. It’s not like you are conscious and can see if you stop breathing. Just because you sleep throughout the night doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

Sleep apnea kills people. Of course you should go for the tests. Chinese or not, he went to medical school and passed.

yes you should go. Any episodes of apnea need to be checked out. When you wake up in the morning are you still tired, do you feel like you need a nap in the afternoon? Sometimes we think we are sleeping well when we really aren’t. During the night when you have an apnea episode you rarely wake completely up, your body responds by bringing itself out of REM sleep mode enough to rouse you so you will begin breathing again. You may never know when you actually have an apnea episode unless you have a sleeping partner who notices it. I work with a pulmonologist daily and he always asks to speak to the partner about this. The sleep study will monitor how many times a night you are experiencing apnea and if you will need a c-pap machine to help stop the episodes. So do please go for your own sake. I hope this made sense to you, kinda hard to put into words.

The sleep apnea test where you sleep overnight in the hospital with all sortsof wires glued to you is expensive if you don’t have health insurance. If your sleeping partner says you snore a lot and quit breathing for longer than normal, then I’d at least get a second opinion from doctors you do trust. My wife said I snored when I slept on my back, but not on my side. The test at the hospital said I was sleeping very wellon my back and no oxygen deprivation was detected(or whatever they’re measuring).

In my case, it was peace of mind knowing that I wasn’t slowly killing myself one night at a time. Sleep apnea is nothing to screw around with.
