I have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) I am using an APAP but what worries me is the dreams?

2 or 4 times a night I dream of dead people, dying, getting killed, that kind of warm and fuzzy thing. Could this be me having an episode and the APA not functioning right?

I doubt it. It’s just oxygen.

IT’S NOT THE MACHINE, IT’S YOU.
WHY ARE YOU HAVING ALL THESE THOUGHTS OF DEATH AND DYING?
NOT BEING ABLE TO BREATHE COULD BE THE CULPRIT. CALL YOUR DOC AND TELL HIM WHAT IS GOING ON.

Hmmm. . . I’ve never heard of that but I’d certainly talk to my doctor about it. How long has it been since you’ve had your machine calibrated?

Sleep apnea is known to be a serious condition. My father has it and he too sleeps with an air compressor. However, the dreams that you are having can be bothersome. When a person is asleep, the brain tends to internalize the external enviornment. Meaning that if your hand gets caught in between your pillow and the bed, you might dream that someone is pulling it. Or, if its too cold wherever you fell asleep at, then you might dream you are cruising Alaska. As for the APAPA being internalized into your dream, I dont see the correlation. It sounds as if you are stressed or worried, bad dreams can be a result of these too. Having late heavy dinners can provoke nighmares as well. Are you on any medications? Could this be a side effect? If this continues, you might want to discuss this with a health care rpovider who can then refer you to a sleep care professional. Best wishes.

its a subcounsious thing your afraid that if you APA stops woring you’ll die… these dreams are ment to wake you up to check to see if your alive and if your machine is working…

What could be happening is, the settings are too low. It’s possible that every time you have one of these dreams you’re having an apnea episode. This could possibly be dangerous.
You should talk to your doctor
