Is the fact that I cannot sleep with someone else in the bed or room a sleep disorder?

It is really a huge problem for me. I cannot share a bed and sometimes not even a room with anyone at night because I cannot sleep. I am very worried I will fail to have normal relationship one day because of this. I have been told this is just a caprice of mine, but it truly isn’t, it is something very disturbing I have to deal with and I dont know how.

Actually, even in couples who have been married a long time, they do fall asleep and stay asleep faster and better if they’re alone. Everyone has a hard time with it, you’re not unusual. Once you’re comfortable in a relationship, it will get easier. If you’re in a relationship and it really didn’t get easier over time, I’d be surprised, but then you could always go and get some short-term counseling to overcome it. I wouldn’t worry about it now.

No it isn’t a disorder, but could become so if you think of ot thay way, I have taken time to get used to new bedrooms, new sounds, sleeping with someone and sleeping alone, if it goes for an extended period, it may be a problem, but don’t talk yourself into it from the get go….
