Sleep Paralysis will be experienced by one in five people. Victims wake to find that they are paralyzed and unable to move or speak. Many experience frightening visions of demons, shadows, or an old woman known as “The Hag.” For others there is simply the unmistakable presence of evil. In extreme cases, these potentially supernatural attacks can occur for decades. Overwhelmed, exhausted, and entirely alone, victims can lead shattered lives dominated by the fear of social stigma. Those who seek medical advice are often misdiagnosed and labeled psychotic or schizophrenic. In “Your Worst Nightmare ~ Supernatural Assault” Soul Smack explores the surprisingly common and greatly misunderstood phenomenon of sleep paralysis. In this ground breaking documentary, Soul Smack interviews actual victims, consults with experts, and offers advice on how to live with what might be your worst nightmare. Soul Smack will launch it’s media rich site on 10/31/08 to coincide with the premier of it’s DVD “Your Worst Nightmare ~ Supernatural Assault.” In the meantime, we are offering a few temporary pages as well as a forum for feedback, insight, and discussion. To access the forum, please register as a new member. Welcome to our community!

I’ve been using cpap now for 5 months and still cannot keep the mask on at night on a regular basis. I tend to move around in my sleep a lot and wake up each morning with the mask usually thrown from the bed. (I have a full face mask, multiple straps that go both under and over the ears as well as across the top of the head.) I currently do not have insurance and cannot afford to go see my sleep specialist for his opinion. Any ideas on how to solve my problem besides duct tape??

Has there ever been any medical studies on whether or not liposuction of the face and neck areas can improve sleep apnea symptoms? I keep hearing that airway obstruction can often be caused by excessive tissue around the airways, and is common in overweight people.

So – what if someone had most of the excess fat removed from their neck and face through liposuction? Would that take some of the pressure off the airway and allow it to open up a little bit? Or is this just a pipe dream? (pardon the pun)

I’ve had treatments for depression for about 3 years now. None of the depression treatments such as medication and ECT helped.

I recently suspected sleep apnea and went for an overnight sleep study. They confirmed that I was experiencing sleep apnea, and I had a partial night’s rest using the CPAP machine at the testing location, but it wasn’t a full night’s rest using it.

The test was last weekend, and they said it would be 7-10 days for a doctor to analyze the data and get back to me. I won’t know how severe my sleep apnea is until I hear from the doc…

I was wondering if anyone would like to share their sleep apnea problems and solutions, and how well they did (or didn’t) work. I’m especially interested in anyone’s story involving depression, either due to or made worse by sleep apnea.

I’m not terribly overweight, 6ft 1in and 220 lbs, but the doc said I have a very narrow throat, and my severe allergies and sinus problems play a role.

I appreciate anyone’s storys!
